For current pastors (3+ years) with an MDiv or Grimké MTh
In the first two years, you will complete eight seminars for advanced theological and leadership training, joining us for two in-person intensives each year. At the same time, you will research and prepare your doctoral thesis. If needed, you will have an additional two years to complete and defend your thesis.
The Doctor of Ministry (DMin) at Grimké welcomes you into a centuries-old model of immersive, theological discipleship. The DMin improves upon our standard graduate/postgraduate programs in three ways:
Doctoral students will discover, discuss, and debate advanced concepts of pastoral ministry—theory and practice—from a Reformed perspective. During intensives in Liverpool, UK, and Richmond, USA, you’ll learn to articulate and apply concepts immediately into your pastoring.
During the first two years, you will build advanced writing and rhetorical skills in your area of study. Attend in-person intensives for dedicated writing time with assistance from our doctoral faculty.
Your degree will culminate in researching, writing, and defending an extended thesis to address realistic and timely concerns for the people of God.
Each spring you will join Grimké Europe for an intensive in Liverpool to worship and fellowship alongside our larger student body while working on your thesis. Each fall you will attend a DMin exclusive intensive at Grimké Seminary in Richmond, VA. There you will enjoy advanced instruction and intimate dialogue regarding your DMin seminars.
Grimké intentionally utilizes the non-residential model of seminary education to highlight the importance of theological education occurring in local churches, taught by professors who are pastors.
